Welcome to
Joey B’s

A restaurant of contrasts and incongruities that work,
creating a memorable dining experience that combines
casual service with classic Continental cuisine.

Joey B’s History

Chef Brophy learned his chops working for former Chappel’s chef Greg Broman at the Strathallan in what Brophy calls “the evil eighties.” When Broman left in ’85, Joe became the head chef, a post he held until 1989, when the Strath was sold.

Testimonials

  • Devoted fans of Joey B's thought their favorite French-inspired restaurant couldn't get much better as a destination for affordable luxury. Then the restaurant, named for chef-owner Joe Brophy, a Rochester native who learned his craft at top French restaurants, moved to its new location in Fairport Village in 2005. Amid authentic French watercolors, diners feast on a range of bistro-style specialties including rack of lamb, duck breast à l'orange, beef filet with peppercorns and a revolving choice of fresh fish. Sides often include creamy au gratin potatoes, sauteed kale and steamed vegetables. For dessert, rich crème brûlée and fallen chocolate cake are accompanied by lighter fruit offerings such as frozen kiwi souffle. And regulars continue to rejoice for the tripled seating capacity, improved parking and the newly acquired full bar.

  • Chef Brophy has moved his upscale cooking into new, upscale digs. He's always had the cooking chops, and Joey B's has long been a huge favorite with locals who are in the know. The man makes some of the finest stocks and reductions you'll ever encounter.
